No Scroll November

Introduction

Idea of No Scroll November came to my mind as easy way to motivate myself to cut down last few sites that take up my time (and instead each of them gives me absolutely nothing except dopamine shot and elusive feeling of being well-informed, mainly with crap). Mostly reddit or wykop (polish counterpart of reddit), maybe sometimes youtube. I love games (or better Spiele) and the way of challenging (even with myself) gives me incomprehensibly amount of willpower.

Rules

Quite easy. Don't visit youtube, any social media — facebook, twitter, instagram and so on; leave aside youtube (be honest, that one valuable video is surrounded by over a dozen useless crappy montages), espeacially avoid tik-tok and other reels-based shit; confront yourself with your porn addiction and stop it; use SMS to prompt communication (with Short Messages, nomen omen) — don't write endless streams of consiousness on Messenger, Whatsup etc. Just don't use any scroll-based app or site. They are mostly worthless. Even care with your browser, cause I bet, that every easily gathered information will be forgotten at the very next day.

If you are still with me don't be nervous, it's just mine set of rules. I don't use any communication for instant messaging and I don't have any social media, so I can afford myself for such maximal approach. But No Scroll November is not concerned with impossible tasks. If you use tik-tok, twitter, facebook and plenty more sites, then you probably won't stand whole month without them. Better think on your own foot what you want to change the most and dispose of that one or two apps/sites. In fact rules are up to you.

For what?

I like to go beyond my own limits and try new things, solutions in my life. Also one month of digital ascesis is nice to view not only your on-line behaviour, but also to view your mind!!! You can assay your destination, your goals and so on. Maybe you will see in your routine some worrying practices and one month of break will be first step of change. Logic behind all that thoughts is that almost every activity is better compared to internet actvity. Internet is pretty vacuous vacuum for your time.

Strategy

Firstly, habits cannot be just rejected. Every kicked away habit should be replaced with another activity. In another case probability of getting back to rejected habit is huge (near 1!!!). Secondly internet break should be excuse for more building, educating and meaningful activities than scrolling. It follows, that we need some strategy and that strategy is picking out one nice activity and cultivating it by whole month. It could be anything, for example: reading 30 pages per day (it takes 30-40 mins), workout (30-60 mins), meditation (5-20 mins), journaling, playing an instrument, painting, writing, photographing... You know what you want to do. Just pick out that one thing you always wanted to try and give it chance, only for one month. Maybe it will be your new hobby, maybe not. Don't overthink, pick it out and try it out. In worst case you can change it in every moment of November.

Summary

There are rules, motivations and basic strategy for No Nut November project. It was primarily invented just for mine purposes, but I thought that someone can be interested in it. So here you are, take it and do with that ideas what you want. You can mindless scroll whole month or you can do other (and better) stuff. Your life is up to you.
